disabstractions.

To complete his vision, Ben Moreau proposes a series of original works that he names «disabstractions.». Following one of the first foundamental principles of the Bauhaus school, Ben seeks to blurry the boundaries between art and craftmanship by creating one total piece of art for each disctrict.

At the crossroads between photography and sculpture, this «mise en abîme» uses an element of the abstract subject in order to support the photograph itself and creates an extension towards the tangible world. By this «disabstractive» process, the subject is self-supported and introduces a new level of abstraction.

The «disabstraction» d11. was presented at the Swiss photography fair Photoschweiz in Zürich in May 2022.

“ So let us therefore create a new guild of craftsmen, free of the divisive class pretensions that endeavoured to raise a prideful barrier between craftsmen and artists! ”

— Walter Gropius, Program of the Staatliche Bauhaus in Weimar, 1919.
